L’exposition\, intitulée Jazz à Newport\, revient plus particulièrement sur sa carrière américaine\, rassemblant une série de photographies réalisées lors du festival de jazz de Newport en 1958.\nElle permet de découvrir des portraits des grands noms du jazz tels Louis Armstrong\, Dave Brubeck\, Duke Ellington\, Ella Fitzgerald\, ou encore Dizzy Gillespie… et restitue l’ambiance générale de l’événement (musiciens\, spectateurs\, soirées privées). \nNé à Avignon en 1931\, élève à l’Académie Julian\, Michel Duplaix poursuit des études d’art graphique sous la direction de Josef Albers à l’université de Yale aux États-Unis (1953-1955). Il travaille ensuite à New York comme journaliste-photographe pour Paris Match puis pour Life Magazine et photographie à ce titre de nombreuses célébrités comme Khrouchtchev\, Fidel Castro\, Grace Kelly\, Marylin Monroe… Il revient s’installer en France en 1961 pour mener une double carrière d’éditeur chez Golden Press – avec l’antenne parisienne des Deux Coqs d’or – et chez Flammarion en tant que directeur du département jeunesse\, avant de fonder sa propre maison d’édition Les Livres du Dragon d’Or et d’illustrer des albums jeunesse. \nMichel Duplaix est un ancien résident de la Maison nationale des artistes. \nDécouvrir la Maison nationale des artistes \nCette exposition s’inscrit dans le cadre de la saison thématique « Jazz » de la Ville de Nogent-sur-Marne. \n #bwg_container1_0 #bwg_container2_0 .bwg_masonry_thumb_0 { text-align: center;
