DESCRIPTION:« L’œuvre de Sarrau se réinvente\, sans souci d’imposer un style\, indifférente aux modes. Aucune école\, aucun mouvement artistique influença sa créativité. Parler de sa peinture\,  c’est parler d’elle. Equilibrée et multiple\, calme et drôle\, allant à l’essentiel. Coloriste née\, Sylviane Sarrau travaille par pulsion brèves et spontanées. Elle est aussi à l’aise dans sa période figurative africaine que dans ses collages et papiers froissés abstraits\, ou encore dans ses beaux décors d’opéras. Le fil conducteur de son cheminement est un certain humour subtil empreint de poésie. Son œuvre nous montre qu’elle aime\, avec réel\, l’imaginaire et le surréalisme » .Jacky Chouchane\, 1993 \nAprès des études d’Arts Appliqués à Duperré\, Sylviane Sarrau suit des cours d’Yves Brayer puis d’Othon Friesz à l’Académie de la Grande Chaumière « qui appuie sur les mouvements rythmés dont on doit sentir la respiration ». Aux éditions d’Art Piazza\, elle s’initie à l’Art de l’enluminure et assiste aux cours d’’Histoire du Costume  avant de travailler avec les décorateurs de théâtre Touchagues et Mellano de Cassina pour le Théâtre de Chatelet. A cette époque\, Les grands couturiers Carven\, Robert Piguet\, Madeleine Vramant et Ledoux lui achètent les modelés des cértaines de ses collections.  A partir des années cinquante\, elle  présente son travail dans divers salons est expositions\, obtient la médaille de bronze au Grand Prix de Deauville… \nEn 1967\, elle travaille comme décoratrice à l’Opéra de Lyon.
