DESCRIPTION:Né en 1919\, en Espagne\, Leopoldo Novoa (1919-2012) s’initie aux arts plastiques lors de son premier voyage en Amérique latine\, à l’âge de sept ans. Après des études d’architecture et de droit en Uruguay\, il crée une revue littéraire APEX et entre en contact avec des personnalités du monde de l’art qui vont l’encourager à peindre. Sa première exposition personnelle a lieu à Buenos Aires\, en 1953. C’est le début d’une fructueuse carrière rythmée par une centaine d’expositions à travers le monde. Actuellement\, les plus grands musées d’Art Moderne internationaux (New-York\, Dublin\, Mexico\, Buenos Aires\, Caracas) et le Fond national d’art contemporain de Paris\, notamment\, possèdent des toiles de l’artiste. Jusqu’à son décès\, survenu en 2012 à Nogent dans son atelier du Hameau des artistes\, il n’aura de cesse de questionner\, à travers ses œuvres\, la lumière et les reliefs. Peintre de la matière\, Novoa invite le spectateur à appréhender ses tableaux avec cette force tranquille qui caractérise l’ensemble de son travail.
