DESCRIPTION:Artiste :\nXavier Antin\nWilliam Morris\, polymathe anglais\, figure du mouvement Arts and Crafts\, fut à la fois fabricant de textiles et d’ameublement\, artiste\, écrivain\, éditeur\, personnage politique et proto-penseur de l’utopie sociale du design. Il réalise le mobilier des maisons qu’il habite\, comme à Kelmscott Manor\, la villégiature du Gloucestershire qui donna son nom à sa maison d’édition. Morris y publiera en 1890\, News from Nowhere (or An Epoch of Rest)\, représentation d’une société idéale projetée au début du xxie siècle. \nDepuis plusieurs années\, chapitre après chapitre\, au gré des occasions éditoriales et des rencontres\, le designer\, artiste et éditeur anglais Will Holder publie The Middle of Nowhere\, transposition de l’œuvre originale de Morris à l’orée du XXIIème siècle qui nous promet d’abriter les ferments d’une utopie du design pour les années à venir. Pour l’exposition News from Nowhere Xavier Antin rapproche le bâtiment de la MABA de Kelmscott Manor et de son histoire. Will Holder\, y sera accueilli en résidence au mois d’août et invité à y écrire un nouveau chapitre de The Middle of Nowhere et le centre d’art sera transformé en atelier de fabrication de tapisserie et de proto-mobilier.
