Cette joyeuse bande n’a pas peur d’utiliser du rose\, des couleurs pastel et vives\, du doré\, des paillettes\, du brillant\, des fleurs\, des cœurs et bien d’autres motifs encore.\nLeur mot d’ordre? Joli et saturé. D’exubérantes images aux accents légèrement provocants glissent nonchalamment des mains de ces artistes\, abordant avec raffinement des sujets tels que le féminisme\, le genre\, l’(homo) sexualité\, l’intimité\, l’érotisme\, le racisme ou encore la pleine acceptation du corps\, d’une manière si délicieusement sublimée qu’on le remarque à peine. Ces images appétissantes sont comme un appât au bout d’un hameçon. Une stratégie de séduction subtile permettant d’attirer le spectateur vers une critique sociale plus profonde. Les sujets sensibles deviennent ainsi irrésistiblement amusants.\nL’activisme frontal fait place à une approche toute de velours. Ce style artistique est le plus souvent qualifié de «girly» et perçu comme futile. Un faux pas absolu qu’il est urgent de corriger. D’autant que ce genre n’est pas seulement une affaire de femmes\, mais aussi celle d’hommes et de la communauté queer. En fin de compte\, ces œuvres visent à se défaire de la norme\, source de tant de problèmes.
