SUMMARY:ESSAIMS\, HORDES\, FLÉAUX !
DESCRIPTION:Artiste :\nPatrick Goddard\nConstituée d’œuvres cinématographiques\, d’installations\, de sculptures et de peintures\, cette première exposition personnelle en France de l’artiste britannique Patrick Goddard rassemble des œuvres récentes et inédites explorant diverses relations à l’animal et à l’Anthropocène. Autour de ses œuvres cinématographiques Animal Antics (2021) et sa suite Whoopsie’s Dream (2022)\, deux comédies satiriques\, l’artiste établit des comparaisons entre une ère anthropocène post-naturelle et les peurs irrationnelles liées à l’Autre. Dans ces deux films\, se retrouve un même protagoniste\, un Bichon Frisé\, appelé Whoopsie\, capable de converser avec les humains. \nMais\, au fur et à mesure que les deux films progressent\, le petit chien\, d’apparence si mignonne\, se révèle particulièrement acerbe en exprimant des idées odieuses et particulièrement exagérées quant à sa propre lignée généalogique : Whoopsie\, doté d’un pedigree attesté et de papiers en règle\, croit sa légitimité et sa place dans un certain ordre social assurée en considérant\, désormais\, comme nécessaire de développer une politique d’exclusion à l’égard des animaux non domestiqués… \nParallèlement aux films\, un nouveau corpus d’ œuvres picturales déploie le thème central de Whoopsie’s Dream : une nostalgie du nationalisme brisée par le retour du refoulé..
